PALM JUMEIRAH BY MAURIZIO VIEL WHO LIVES IN THE SOUGHT-AFTER AREA AND IS THE CO-FOUNDER OF LCAS (LONDON CENTRE FOR AESTHETIC SURGERY)

Maurizio: please tell us about your family?

 I am from Italy, but lived in London for the twenty years before coming to Dubai, and I met my wife, Edwina in London where she grew up. We had our first child in London before moving to Dubai when he was 5 weeks old. We now have 4 children who are 7, 5, 4 and 2 years old.

 You own a villa on The Palm, what made you choose The Palm and what do you love about it?

 I knew that when we moved to Dubai, we wanted to live close to the sea. I didn’t want to choose another urban area personally, because I had that for twenty years in the UK. We wanted a lifestyle that suited a family with young children where the children could run on the beach. It feels like an escape from a busy daily schedule.

 What are your favourite spots within walking distance? Cafes, restaurants etc

 We don’t have anything on the Palm that are walking distance except the beach. However, we are spoilt with a huge selection on the Palm from Riva Beach Club at the Shoreline Apartments, to restaurants at the Golden Mile, and 5-star hotel restaurants from Nobu at the Atlantis to Zest at the One&Only. Also, there is Amala – the best Indian restaurant in our opinion at the Zabeel Saray, and the Porterhouse at the Sofitel.

 You are a founding partner at LCAS (London Centre for Aesthetic Surgery) the leading cosmetic surgery in the UAE. Please tell us where to find you?

 We have been in Dubai for 8 years now, and my twin brother, Roberto, and I still have our practice on 15 Harley Street, London, and we both go back and forth to see patients. In Dubai, we are located at Dubai Healthcare City, just above Moorfields Eye Hospital in the surgical block.

 Finally, what advice would you give to someone looking to buy a villa in Dubai?

I think it is important to have a real understanding of the area that you live in. you need to love it, too, because if you do, often other people will love it for the same reasons. We also thought our villa would be easy to rent out, and we know that the Palm’s garden styled villa always has a high demand. However, it is also our family home, and we had to find a practical space for the children, and also it is important to invest in location, location, location.
