Becky – please tell us about your family?
I have 3 children with my husband Tom. Molly (11 Years), Gus (9 years) and Violet (6 Years). Tom and I met in London and came out to Dubai together as I was working at Burj al Arab running the Spa and Health Club before Desert Palm. We have been living in Dubai for 16 years. Tom is a Radio and TV presenter working with Dubai networks.
How long have you lived in Desert Palm and what do you like about it?
Desert Palm is a very special place, we have lived here for 12 years. It has been described by many as “Dubai’s hidden secret” It is an amazing place for families, there is so much greenery with the polo fields along with many other facilities for kids, in a safe environment. Desert Palm is just outside of the city near to Mirdif and very convenient to get into town. There are many amenities close by.
Desert Palm is well-known for the polo community and the amazing green space. What other facilities are there?
Desert Palm has many additional facilities on offer to residents. The riding school, polo club, 4 tennis courts, squash court, Basketball, volley ball, 5 aside football court. Two x 33 metre infinity pools, children’s play area and a football field. The facilities are superb, very well maintained and managed by our team at Desert Palm. Residents also have use of the Desert Palm Resort and Hotel, facilities included are swimming pool, gym, spa, hairdressers, restaurants, bar. Residents get discounted rates on food, beverage, room rates and gym membership.
You are the real estate manager for Desert Palm Residences, what does your job involve?
As the Real Estate Manager my job involves, showing prospective clients villas, managing the properties for the landlord and maintaining relationships with our residents. We have 81 villas made up of 2,3 and 4 beds with the additional facilities available for our residents.
What advice would you give to someone looking to find a property in Dubai?
Locations and properties in Dubai can be very different. If you want a lifestyle change, you want social interaction and many activities at your doorstep for families, I would certainly suggest the ease of compound living. If you prefer to be nearer to the beach you may choose an independent villa or apartment as there are certainly more of those in Jumeriah. Life is very buzzy in this area, great for younger people or couples.
